Hickory Ridge Family Farm of Hart

This is Turkey Week! If you ordered a turkey this is the week to pick it up. If you’re still looking for the perfect pastured bird for your table, we will have fresh turkeys available for walk ins. These turkeys have been rotated daily on fresh pasture, foraging for up to 45% of their diet. We also will have limited quantities of our pork cuts, including ground, pork chops, assorted roasts and nitrate free smoked  hams.

The Freedom Rangers are back! These tasty heritage meat chickens are available, whole birds only, for a limited time.

 

Chickadee Creek Farm of Nunica

We will be at market Saturday with delicious cuts of pastured Mulefoot pork for sale.   We will also have meat from our grass-fed Shetland Sheep, and new this week– natural non-dyed yarn in both a cream color and a two tone mocha and white blend.   This yarn was processed out of wool from our very own sheep and we are excited to be able to offer it!   Also, we will once again have some of our homemade jams available again just in time for the holidays.   See you at the market!

This week we have many great foods to fill your Thanksgiving Table!

Pie Pumpkins!!  Not sure how to make a pumpkin pie from scratch? Just ask.  It is so much easier than you might think.

Potatoes.  How about All Blue mashed potatoes?  We also have Russett, Kennebec, German Butterball, and Red La Soda.

Winter Squash: we have many varieties to suit many palates.

The hoophouse is slow growing these days, but we are still harvesting greens.  Lettuce mix, spinach, arugula, beet greens, and turnip greens.

We also have fresh dug carrots and mild turnips.

We have three different tea blend to warm and nourish you through these cold weather months.  Our teas are gentle and can be enjoyed by everyone from children to adults, including pregnant and nursing mamas.

We have a wide variety of herbal salves and creams made from plants that are wildcrafted from our land.  These can help ease much of the dis-ease that can arise in the winter months.  Stock up and be prepared!

One weekend to go before Thanksgiving and we’ll be at The Sweetwater Local Foods market on Saturday where our Cranberry Orange Almond loaf shows up just in time for the holidays.  Nothing says the holidays like a little orange zest, which makes this loaf a perfect accompaniment to a sumptuous Thanksgiving feast.  Please see scroll down to see the complete list of what is available for this coming Saturday.

GRANOLAs

Mountain Crunch Granola (pure vanilla, toasted almonds, and organic coconut oil) and Laughing Tree Peanut Butter Granola (all-natural PB, pure vanilla, and Michigan honey).

Both of these granolas are baked in our wood-fired brick oven after the intense bread-baking heat has dissipated (after several days).  They are baked at a low temperature to ensure that the nutrients in the grains and seeds remain intact!  Please note, these granolas are SWEETENED ONLY WITH MICHIGAN HONEY!  There is absolutely no refined sugar in them.

This week we’ll have: Brassica greens from  Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, Red Cabbage, Savoy Cabbage Nappa Cabbage.  These will not mature, but the leaves are excellent for steaming or sautéing with a sweet flavor.  These are sold to some Chefs that we provide for and they love them. Also: Arugula, Spinach, Romaine mix, Radicchio, Baby Parsnips, Baby Lacinato Kale, Collards, Ruby Swiss chard.
