The Pasturage of Montague
*Reminder: we will not be able to deliver to Sweetwater for the next two Saturdays: October 11 and October 18.  We will still be at Muskegon in our usual stall (148).*
Greetings turkey tourists! It’s a lot cheaper to visit us than fly to Turkey, though I hear we may be joined on our farm turkey tour by a person from Turkey… We’ll see. I’ll keep my puns to a minimum in any case. The turkey tour is Sunday, October 12 at 3 pm on our farm. When you use the link to sign up, there is a map available. In case you’re afraid of commitment and don’t want to sign up in advance, our address is 7956 S 56th Ave, Montague, MI 49437.  I’m going to roast a turkey from frozen so you can taste the result. And most important, I’ll teach you how to hug a turkey. That is not a typo: I do mean hug. This is the most vital component of your Thanksgiving meal, obviously.
Here’s all our links:

The Pasturage of Montague
Hi Sweetwater friends, we will be able to deliver this coming weekend, 10/4, so keep us in mind. My dune class was great; I learned a ton, even though I grew up going to Hoffmaster and reading their displays. So thank you for your gracious indulgence of a Saturday occupied other than the market!
Our online form is updated to include whole animal orders. We’ve had a lot of inquiries over the summer about whole or half lambs and hogs. Our slaughter dates are coming up and the online pre-order form outlines dates and details. If you are interested, check out  https://form.jotform.com/231266729632056 under the Whole tab.
Also, don’t forget our turkey tour! Join us Sunday, October 12 at 3pm to meet your holiday dinner!

The Pasturage of Montague
We will not be able to deliver to Sweetwater this weekend. My Mom and Gina will be covering the Muskegon farmers market for me, so we’ll still be around, but I didn’t want to add another layer for the kind people to handle. I am going to be with my Oceana County Conservation Stewards cohort at a field day. We are learning all about dune ecosystems. I’m pretty excited. I signed up for the program even though I felt like it was going to be a stretch to balance all the work of the farm, off-farm job, and now a 10 week course on top of that, but I love this stuff so I went for it. I’m learning a ton. The hardest part, I think, will be taking all I learned and figuring out what and how, it will impact my context: ie the farm. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, you may now pre-order a Thanksgiving turkey on our online pre-order form under the turkey tab (https://form.jotform.com/231266729632056). We are also hosting a turkey tour on the farm on Sunday Oct. 12 at 3pm. Join us! Sign up for the tour here: https://form.jotform.com/252606229991161

The Pasturage of Montague
We are now accepting pre-orders for our Thanksgiving turkeys. On our online pre-order form
https://form.jotform.com/231266729632056
under the turkey tab, is a place to list your name and contact information. We ask for a $55 deposit. You can mail a check to us, or I can send you a payment link online. We will deliver the turkeys the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  They will be frozen, but barely, as our slaughter date is Nov. 2. We do this because we only want to make one trip the the USDA poultry slaughterhouse in Fowlerville, and in that one trip we want turkeys both while and cut up. The slaughterhouse won’t cut turkeys in the weeks leading to Thanksgiving. Rest assured, however, that it will be delicious and packed with nutrition. And, did you know? You can roast a turkey from frozen! So you can skip the whole confusing calculations about defrost, brine, etc. We will also host a turkey tour near the end of October, so you can meet your meat, if you will. Stay tuned for more details.
We also have pork, lamb & chicken in stock. How the online pre-order form works:
https://form.jotform.com/231266729632056
It lists everything we have in stock, the price, the average price per package, and for sausages and cured meats it also lists the ingredients.  Then it asks you how you’d like to pay and gives you options where you can pick up the products you ordered. Once I receive the form, I collect the products and then send you a total.  When you pick up is when you pay.  You can always call my cell at 23one 288 6 one one 2 to place an order if that is easier for you.
