Holiday Market #1! Yes, Virginia, it’s that time again. Why not “gift local” this year? You’ll find lots of great gift ideas for both people and pets.

 

Dec 2nd Farm Tour:The bus is full and we’re really looking forward to a great time this Sunday! Itinerary will be going out to participants who supplied an email, otherwise available at boarding time on Sunday. Now, everybody think positive thoughts on the weather – but do dress accordingly (like I have to tell a Michigander that!)

We will be at market this Saturday with a variety of items. Included will be our delicious Mulefoot pork, what’s left of our mutton, all-natural Shetland yarn, and an assortment of winter vegetables.  We also have a few new items this week.  First are an assortment of organic dog treats packaged for gift giving, and second are our paprika and chipotle powders made right here on the farm from our own peppers!  They will be packaged in 1 oz. jars–perfect for stocking stuffers.   See you at the market!

This week’s veggies:

From the Hoop: Beet Greens, Turnips Greens, and Arugula. These are all tender, mild, and very tasty!

Storage Crops: A variety of Potatoes, Butternut Squash, Delicata Squash, Pie Pumpkins, Yellow and Red Onions, and Garlic.

We have fresh dug carrots.  Winter carrots are so sweet!

Gift ideas! We have homemade jam and jelly.  We use our own grapes for classic grape jelly.  We have Blueberry jam made from Organic West MI grown blueberries.  One of the best things about our jam and jelly is that it is sweetened only with local honey!

Our herbal products make great gifts!  For yourself or some one you care for.

Teas: Peace Tea, Nourish, and Restore.  We have bagged and loose tea.

We hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving as much as we did, celebrating with good friends and family over the course of a long and rest-filled weekend.  We are grateful for the third year now to enjoy work we love and share it with so many terrific people. We’ll continue to bake Cranberry Orange Almond here through the holidays along with the usual suspects and a potential new offering here or there.

GRANOLAs

Mountain Crunch Granola (pure vanilla, toasted almonds, and organic coconut oil) and Laughing Tree Peanut Butter Granola (all-natural PB, pure vanilla, and Michigan honey).

Both of these granolas are baked in our wood-fired brick oven after the intense bread-baking heat has dissipated (after several days).  They are baked at a low temperature to ensure that the nutrients in the grains and seeds remain intact!  Please note, these granolas are SWEETENED ONLY WITH MICHIGAN HONEY!  There is absolutely no refined sugar in them.
