Yaaaay!! Rain!!! I hope the tomatoes survive! They are not rain lovers
this late in the season. I will bring what I have, no promises this
week. Everything else is doing well. The spinach is popping up, I hope
the rain doesn’t affect it badly. We are building a shade cover for the
beds, let’s hope it helps for the fall rain.
I hope to have kiwis and apples again this fall. We don’t raise a lot of
these and they can be hit or miss as we don’t spray the apples at all
and the bugs do love them. It seems there is not a lot of damage this
year from them so we may be good. The kiwis don’t seem to have any
problems like that, but they are tasty! We keep checking them for
ripeness. Fingers crossed!
If you’d like to reserve something, please text me at 734 945 0720 and I
will let you know. Thank you so much for all your support this summer!
Winter squash, spaghetti and acorn
Cabbage, big ones and small ones
Peppers, red and orange, big and small
Scallions or green onions
Shallots
Onions, white, red and yellow
Garlic
Tomatoes, red and orange big ones of all sizes
Low sugar jelly in many flavors, all from our farm. Blackberry,
Elderberry/blackberry, Apple, Kiwi, Kiwi/crab apple, Wild grape,
Elderberry and
Blueberry from a source that I’ve used for 20+ years.
Thanks again!

It may feel like summer this week but changes are ahead for us. The garden is definitely almost finished but we’re going to plant some greens this week for harvest in about a month to 6 weeks. The groundhog shouldn’t be able to get these! Let’s hope the warmer weather hangs on for many more weeks. Gotta love a late frost!
The first winter squash came last week and there will be more this week. Tomatoes are slowing down, cherry size are about out. If you’d like some for salsa or to can or freeze, text me for prices. The peppers are getting really colored with the cooler nights.
If you’d like to reserve something, please text me at 734 945 0720 and I will let you

Funny Farm of Grant
Hello Sweetwater fans! Between the groundhog that keeps
getting in to the weird weather that killed all the Napa cabbage,
there’s no way to predict what will be available for the remainder of
the season. Fortunately it looks like the winter squash is doing well so
far. Most of the “summer” stuff is about done here. We will
probably dig the rest of the potatoes this week and then that’s probably
all for the year. The peppers are finally turning color so that’s good
news. So here’s what I figure will be ready this week. If you’d like to

The Pasturage of Montague
Wow. It’s August! You know what that means? I have poison ivy! It never fails. I cannot make it through a summer without, somehow, getting those tell tale little bumps. From experience I can say: don’t scratch. Just thought I’d pass on some wisdom from the farm in case you’re like me and ignored the first lesson, which was “leaves of three, let it be.” Don’t forget our turkey tour! There’s no poison ivy in our pasture, which is kind of unfortunate; the turkeys will eat it.  RSVP requested; use this form: https://form.jotform.com/241926908495167
You can pre-order your turkey and anything else with our online form https://thepasturage.com/order/
We will do our best to get orders to Sweetwater and you can always find us at our spots at Muskegon Farmers Market and Montague Farmers Market.
Take care!
Julie

Hello, all you Sweetwater fans! It’s been a good week to grow and things are coming along really well. There is no complaint about the weather, at least here. The blackberries are slowly ripening and I hope to have a few pints this week. Next week there may be a few ripe cherry tomatoes, too. If I find something that I forgot, I’ll bring that too! Here’s what I will be bringing this week. If there’s anything you’d like, please text me at
734-9450720 and I will
reserve it for you. Orders are taken in order received. Some stuff is limited so pre-order is the way to go. Thank you for your support this year and always..
New potatoes, Nicola, new Harvest Moon Blue and Chieftain Red
Swiss Chard
Kale, curly and lacinato
Collards
Broccoli, small but tasty
Summer squash and zucchini, limited qtys

The Pasturage of Montague
How-dee peeps! Join us for our turkey tour!  We’ll get up close and personal with our table fare. It is on Sunday, September 22 from 3-5 pm at the farm. We’ll be walking out to the turkeys so be prepared for long grass and whatever the weather might be.  The turkeys will answer your burning existential questions, while I’ll answer anything practical, like what do they eat.  Then we’ll leave the pasture and I’ll give you tips and tricks for the perfect Thanksgiving turkey including when to defrost and how, a brine recipe, and roasting technique. I’ll carve a chicken as an example and you can try it and see if you like the brine effect.  RSVP requested; use this form: https://form.jotform.com/241926908495167
It’s never too early to think about my favorite pastime: overeating. You can pre-order your turkey or turkey parts online at http://thepasturage.com/order along with all our other fare. We will do our best to get orders to Sweetwater and you can always find us at our spots at Muskegon Farmers Market and Montague Farmers Market.
To giving thanks!
Julie

The Pasturage of Montague
Wow, I think this is the sunniest February I can remember. Despite the warm weather, I am somehow shocked we are headed into March.  Also, great news! Our farm has been selected to participate in the Climate Smart Commodities Project. This is a minimum 5 year commitment that quantifies our planet saving efforts earning a Certified Regenerative by A Greener World distinction. We are super excited about this. What does this mean for you? You can rest assured that everything we produce is done so with climate health as top priority. In other news, we will have chicken available beginning June 8 as whole and cut up. Keep it in mind! Finally, we will resume our delivery schedule this Saturday. Check out all our options at www.thepasturage.com/order

Enjoy the sun!

Julie

Returning Soon

The Woven Farm of Whitehall

Hello Folks!

My market hiatus is quickly coming to an end! While I have enjoyed a short break from early Saturday mornings at the market table, our crop of mid winter greens are beginning to reach maturity!

I plan to return to market NEXT weekend with microgreens, and harvested seed, and fingers crossed for our first hoophouse harvest! I look forward to seeing you all next week! In the meantime, if you are hoping to support the farm through an early season sale, CSA shares are live on the website! P.S – our well is scheduled to be driven in mid April! A continued thanks to all who have helped get us to this point over these past couple of crazy seasons!
Cheers to Good Growing!
