Vendors attending Saturday September 18th :

NEW FARM!
The Mannor Farm of Hesperia
Our little farm is located on 25 acres in Oceana County southwest of Hesperia in the Manistee National Forest. We are bordered on three sides by forest and a small farm to the north. We are 3 miles from the White River and Pines Point CampGround. We originally come from very different backgrounds. Dan was raised on a small farm in Oceana County, Michigan while Linda was raised in Staten Island, New York. We have had several small farms over the past 45 years and have raised beef cattle, sheep, and hay. We have always had a garden and tried to maintain a self-sufficient lifestyle. We have always tried to grow our livestock and food as naturally as possible. In 2012, we started raising squash and garlic on Dan’s parents’ old farm that was sold to the local supermarket.  In 2017, we purchased our current place and since it had not been farmed in over 40 years, decided to manage it naturally in a sustainable manner. We are Certified Naturally Grown and use no chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides (we meet or exceed all USDA Organic standards).  We currently raise a variety of vegetables including garlic, onions, peppers, eggplant, chinese (Napa) cabbage, squash, kohlrabi, and beans.  We also raise field corn and Indian corn.  Dan is a retired accountant and Linda is a retired nurse. For more info: https://certified.naturallygrown.org/producers/6190
This week we have available:
Red Chinese (napa) cabbage  $3.00 per head
Green Chinese (Napa) cabbage $3.00 per head
Kohlrabi (green)   $1.00 each
Kohlrabi (purple)  $1.00 each
Spaghetti Squash (small 1.5 – 2.5 lb each – some may be little bigger or smaller)  $2.00 each
Elephant Garlic  $4.00 per bulb
Hardneck Garlic (Music)  $2.00 per bulb
Garlic Granules  Net wt 2 oz bottle   $7.00 each
Onion Flakes  Net wt 3.8 oz bottle  $6.00 each
Crushed Hot Pepper Net wt 1.2 oz bottle  $5.00 each
Dried Whole Black Hungarian Peppers (like a Jalapeno Pepper)  1/2 oz  $2.00
Ancho (dried Poblano) Peppers  1/2 oz  $2.00
All the produce is Certified Naturally Grown.
For Pre-Orders: Please send all orders to dlmannor1975@gmail.com.

Blackbird Farms of Coopersville
This week at market, we are offering again our pre-selected, pre-packed bags of fresh vegetables. These bags are something akin to our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares. We assemble bags of our highest quality veggies based on whatever is fresh and in season for that week. In the bag, we aim to have some combination and quantity of at least six different vegetables with a combined value around $20. We also include a brief note from Farmer Greg and a farm-tested recipe. Each bag costs $15.
This week’s bag will likely contain some combination of the following: kale, head lettuce, tomatoes, sweet peppers, carrots, leeks, potatoes, and garlic. Again, each bag will cost $15.
To order your Blackbird Farms Veggie Bag, please email us at hello.blackbirdfarms@gmail.com by noon on Thursday. We will then send you an invoice via Square. Payment can also be made via cash or check (payable to Blackbird Farms).
We also plan to have many other items for walk-up sales—watch for more information in Friday’s newsletter.
Also, again this week our market stall will be run by our crew member Forrest. Be sure to ask him about his special hot sauce and other goodies!
Thanks so much! We’re looking forward to seeing friends old and new this Saturday!
