Friday Market Update Newsletter
Is there anything more summery than summer squash? Besides grilling and sliced raw into salads, how do you best enjoy this golden goodness?

Learning to enjoy new parts of our common veggies can be fun! I made a delicious carrot top pesto last week, with a little added basil, garlic, walnuts, parm & EVOO – it was delicious! A friend from work told me she makes kohlrabi chips from the leaves, same as kale chips but very light & crispy!

Blackbird Farm & Woven Farm will both have lots of summer squash so be sure to get some! And Earthscape Farm will have kohlrabi & snow peas along with their meats. (meat cuts should be preordered if possible).

On a more serious note, we’re as concerned as everyone else about the price of food these days, particularly meat. Just FYI, our farmers have kept their meat prices down in spite of rising costs on their ends, so not only is ordering from them more economical for you, it also supports our local food economy (instead of the 2 or 3 huge meat conglomerates selling most of what is in the supermarkets). Most importantly, locally raised pastured animals are SO much healthier for you! You can rest assured all the animal products sold at Sweetwater are from small flocks enjoying grassy pastures this time of year, not crowded into buildings & pens and crammed full of antibiotics…….it’s a WIN WIN!
Earthscape Farm & Pine Row Farm will both have a limited amount of beef cuts available for walk up sales, so please consider getting a preorder in ahead of Saturday, it assures you will get the precise cuts you want, as our farmers can’t possibly haul everything they have down to you.
Okay, off the soapbox we go, and we’ll see you at the market!

Dark Waters Coffee Roasters of Mears
Hello friends,
This Saturday, July 16, we are unable to attend Sweetwater.  If you are in need of coffee, fear not!  Head over to www.darkwatercoffeeroasters.com and we can ship it to your doorstep. Orders will be roasted Wednesday and shipped on Thursday.
We will be attending the Mears art show and Montague farmers market on Saturday so if you’re looking for something to do, it should be a fun event.
We’re looking for a little feedback, how often would you like to see us at market?  Your opinion matters to us. We have been enjoying meeting all you great folks and so grateful to be here this Summer.
