So, if you’ve been eyeing our socks & rugs as possible Christmas gifts you may want to buy them this week! We’ll also be sampling our favorite pinto bean & corn bread recipe and will have our dried pinto beans, food grade soybeans, red wheat, and acorn squash as well as mini-pumpkins for Thanksgiving decorating!

We are Mike and Lona Bronkema of Shady Side Farm and we have been farming since 1992 and have recently transitioned to organic in parts of our operation, certifying through Global Organic Alliance (GOA). The farm is home to 150 or so sheep and some chickens. Veggies this week ~ Spinach!  Broccoli!  Sweet Potatoes,  Delicata, Butternut and Acorn Squash.  See our blog for information on storage of winter squash.  Pie Pumpkins, Celeriac, the last of the Leeks, Red Onions, Salad Mix, Radishes, possibly some kale and chard.  We’ll have some herbs: parsley, cilantro, rosemary, sage, dill.

Laughing Tree Brick Oven Bakery of Hart

A real, live person (Hilde Muller) from Laughing Tree Brick Oven Bakery will be coming to market this Saturday!
I will be there with at least seven varieties of our breads–come and sample some if you never have before!
Nearly all of our breads are naturally-leavened and all are baked in our wood-fired brick oven by my husband Charlie.  They range from $5-$8 a loaf and we are also happy to sell half loaves.
NEW! We are so excited to have had an abundant crop of veggies that we can share this year! We’ll bring: Sweet potatoes, fresh juicy fat carrots, several varieties of winter squash, Red Norland Potatoes, and a mix of small potatoes too.
