Sweetwater Friday Update for Saturday September 25th Farmers Market

Sweetwater Local Foods Market

Saturday, September 25th, 2021
10:00am to 11:00am
Mercy Health Lakes Village
6401 Harvey St. at US31/Pontaluna Rd.
Here is your Friday Update! Blackbird Farm had a change of plans and will be at market with lots of garlic and new fall grown arugula along with their long list of garden goods. If making kimchi is in your roundhouse, Mannor Farm has the perfect Napa cabbage, in two colors! And it will be nice to welcome back Barb from the Funny Farm!

As for the weather: “The temperature went from 90 to 55 like it saw a state trooper.” Plan accordingly, and lets start stocking up for the coming cold months, no matter what today’s weather brings!

As always, if your time on Saturday is precious we won’t waste any of it! Shopping for the best in fresh, local & organic foods for your family is as easy as contacting the vendors with your pre-orders and stopping by the market on Saturday from 10am to 11am to pick it up! Of course, if you like to linger we’ll have plenty of things to buy without a preorder, so come on by!

If you’re new to the market, please see instructions at the bottom of this newsletter for more info on How to Place a Pre-Order & Pick Up at Market. We send out this Friday update email as a reminder and to list any new products.

Vendors attending Saturday September 25th :

Change of plans!
Blackbird Farms of Coopersville
It turns out that Forrest, our indispensable crew member, will be able to make it to market this Saturday after all! We should have all manner of early-fall deliciousness, including:
GARLIC: We will have lots of Farmer Greg’s family heirloom garlic, available only here at Blackbird Farms. Great flavor, long-lasting, easy-peeling, and good for anything garlic is good for.
ARUGULA: Fall-grown arugula is the best tasting arugula, in my humble opinion. Come get it while you can
MICROGREENS: We have a couple different varieties of these, but perhaps not for much longer this season.
the very last of this season’s San Marzano paste tomatoes
beets
lettuce, red and green looseleaf and green butterhead
minicabbages, green, red, and conehead
large conehead cabbages, ideal for kraut
large savoyed cabbages
Napa cabbages
broccoli
carrots
scallions
collard greens
parsley, flatleaf and curly
celery
baby leeks
radishes
sweet peppers
hot peppers
Be sure to ask Forrest about his hot sauce and vinegar of the week!
Looking forward to seeing friends old and new this Saturday!
