Greg & daughter Erin Mund will be bringing a load of fresh-picked asparagus! The season will be winding down soon, so be sure to get some, there will be plenty for fresh eating and freezing for those nights in the middle of w—– when you need a nice memory of warm summer days!

Shady Side of Holland

I will have our certified organic dry beans at Saturday’s market–grown last summer on our farm south of Grand Haven. The special this week is Black Valentine Beans–regular price for a 2 lb. bag is $11.50–this week you can get a 2 lb. bag for $10. I will also have a limited amount of Grassfields Farm aged raw milk cheese: Chili Cheese, Dill, Garlic & Onion, Gouda, Lamont Cheddar, and Leyden. Grassfields Farms is out of some varieties of cheese right now, so we will have to wait for mid-June for some of the others to come back in stock.  shadysidefarmmichigan@gmail.com

Maple Moon Farm of Shelby

This week we have French Breakfast Radishes.

Fresh herbs!  Cilantro, mint, sage, tarragon, and lemonbalm.

Green garlic.  Young spring garlic, before it sets a bulb.

We have our normal spread of herbal products; herbal teas, creams, lip balms, and a few remaining salves.

Tomato plants!  We have a variety of heirlooms, including great slicers, canning tomatoes, and sweet cherry tomatoes.  This is the last week we will have tomatoes for sale.

 

Funny Farm of Grant

This week we’ll have spinach, spring mix, radishes, arugula, and special for the kitties, cat grass. I have 10 pots available. I have some dried shiitake mushrooms, too. And maybe some fresh ones. Apron Lady & Janet will return as well!

 

Five Oaks Farm of Montague

We’ll have garden transplants for sale, and info about our CSA.

Hickory Ridge Family Farm of Ferry

We will be taking a brief hiatus from the market for the next few weeks as we work hard on getting your chickens ready for their big market debut. We are happy to report that the first batch are already out in the field being rotated to fresh, green pasture daily and are growing plump, happy, and delicious. We will return to Sweetwater in late June with your pre-ordered chickens and limited quantities of pork, and should begin to have chickens available (whole and various cuts) at market in July.

Pet Chef Lakeshore of Twin Lake

We will not be present this Saturday.  However dog/cat food pre-orders can be picked up at the market through Amy Oak. Orders can be placed no later than FRIDAY evening by calling Barb at 231-288-9805, or email petcheflakeshore@gmail.com and Amy will have your order available at the market between 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. If you can’t make it to market during that time frame, Barb will personally deliver your order the following week.

 

Friends of the Market

If you would like to become a Friend of the Market for a suggested donation of $20.00, which entitles you to a free cup of coffee at every market you attend for a full year, please see me at the market this Saturday! We will also have  Higher Grounds Coffee by the Cup for a suggested donation of $1.00.

Sweetwater Pre-Ordering Service for Sunday, June 8th!

If you prefer the convenience of pre-ordering your meat & eggs from the market consider signing up with any of the vendors listed below at the market or by emailing dijaan1@charter.net for our preorder reminder email that will go out on Sundays. This Sunday, June 2nd, you will be receiving an email from the market with price lists and ordering info from the following farms: Earthscape Farm (beef ), Chickadee Creek Farm (pork & eggs), Liberty Family Farm (lamb, chicken, pork & eggs).

You’ll have until Wednesday to get an order in, and each vendor will contact you with a reminder and total of your order.
