Certified Organic for over a decade now, Bernie & Sandee Ware have always specialized in Heirloom varieties of strawberries, happy that they are able to offer fruit that is safe for people, kids and the planet! Beginning this year they are expanding educational opportunities on the farm, offering workshops throughout the summer and fall on Growing Shitake Mushrooms, Jam-making, Fermentation, and more!

This week Bernie will be bringing Jewel strawberries – please come early if you want some!

Whew! We finally got all of our Heirloom Beans planted for this coming season! Mike returns to the market this week with certified organic black and pinto beans and wool products.

Cooking Tip: Bulk cook a bunch of beans in your slow cooker and freeze the cooked beans in can-sized portions for later use in summer salads or dips!

 

Dancing Goat Creamery of Byron Center

Andrea will be back this week with more fresh Goat Cheese (chevre) and Cream Cheese.  Be sure to try some of our customer favorites: Honey Orange, Black Pepper and Herbs de Provence!

Grassfield’s Cheese of Coopersville

Grassfields great Gouda’s have graced the market from Sweetwater’s very beginning and now we’re lucky to have Elliot Parcher, nephew and apprentice of Jesse Meerman the cheesemaker bring their wonderful Certified Organic Dutch-style cheese to the market!

At market this week: Gouda: A traditional handmade cheese in keeping with West Michigan’s (and our family’s) Dutch culture.
Lamont Cheddar: A rare, natural rind English cheese, named for the Grand River’s first settlement near our farm.

Chili Cheese: Gouda with Red Chili flakes, this mild and creamy cheese has delightful spice without being too hot.

Country Dill: A house favorite, the dill herb in Gouda well represents the fresh grass that dominates our cows’ diet.

Edam: A variety of Gouda made with skim milk: Elastic, yet firm, this flawless low fat cheese is our best melter, improving any dish

The Local Epicurean of Grand Rapids
The Local Epicurean is a producer of Hand Made Organic Pasta using the ancient Roman method for an egg noodle.  We also produce seven Gluten Free pastas as well as twelve Vegan Pastas with our line of seventy- five pastas, half of which change with the seasons.
Our production facility and storefront are in Eastown, a community of Grand Rapids where we also make organic sauces and organic hand churned organic butter for our pasta butter sauces.
