Monday Preorder List!

Forest Finds has a fine selection of their made by hand herbal teas, preorders appreciated! I don’t know about you, but just the thought of a Lovely Lemon scone and a hot cup of Hibiscus Mint Sun Tea on these gloomy days makes me smile!

If we need to cancel a market due to severe weather (like the Christmas blizzard) I will send out a separate email no later than Friday evening before a market notifying you that we will be closed. Shares for the Blackbird Farms 2023 CSA program are now available! Sign up now for fresh vegetables June through October. Complete information, as well as sign-up forms, is available on our website at https://blackbirdfarms.net/community-supported-agriculture/. We hope to have you join us–there is a place at the table waiting for you!

The Mannor Farm of Hesperia
The new year is here.
At the farm, we are taking a little break and getting ready for the 2023 Farmers Market season.  It will be here before we know it.
In the past year, we made a few changes to our farm operations.  We stopped using plastic mulch; opting for machine cultivation and manual hoeing to control weeds.  We also added meat chickens, guinea fowl, and rabbits to our market offerings.  We started work on the barn (this project is still in progress).
Starting in May 2023, we will be offering eggs from our Certified Naturally Grown flock of hens.
We will also open a farm market stand at the farm starting in late spring or early summer.
We also started offering a CSA Farm Card membership program.
Our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) membership is a unique program.  Members are issued a prepaid Farm (gift) Card loaded with the cash value of their membership (plus the bonus value). For an investment of $100 to $500, you will receive a Farm (gift) Card loaded with $110 to $600.   That is a discount of 10-20%.
The members can use the Farm Card to pay for their purchases from us at the farm or the Farmers Markets that we attend on a regular basis.
The members only buy what they want when they want it.  They will be notified what we will have each week so they may pre-order for pick-up at the farm stand or one of the Farmers Markets.  Or they may wait to purchase at the farm (during our scheduled hours) or at the farmers markets near them.
Again thank you for your business in 2022 and we look forward to seeing you at the Farmers Markets in 2023.

Blackbird Farm of Coopersville
This week at market, we are again offering our pre-selected, pre-packed bags of fresh vegetables. These bags are something akin to our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares. We assemble bags of our highest quality veggies based on whatever is fresh and in season for that week. In the bag, we aim to have some combination and quantity of at least six different vegetables with a combined value around $25. We also include a brief note from Farmer Greg and a farm-tested recipe. Each bag costs $20.
This week’s bag will likely contain a combination of some of the following: head lettuce, carrots, potatoes, turnips, winter squash, leeks, and garlic. Again, each bag will cost $20.
To order your Blackbird Farms Veggie Bag, please email us at hello.blackbirdfarms@gmail.com by noon on Thursday. We will then send you an invoice via Square. Payment can also be made via cash or check (payable to Blackbird Farms).
We also plan to have several items for walk-up sales—watch for more information in Friday’s newsletter.
Thanks so much! We’re looking forward to seeing friends old and new this Saturday!
