Sweetwater Verified at Muskegon Farmers Market

The Pasturage of Montague
Howdy folks, it’s humid. As if you didn’t notice. When I get up in the morning, the moisture just hangs in the air above the pasture. Later in the day, we give the pigs a wallow and mist the chickens. To me, it seems odd to fight humidity with more water, but evaporative cooling works wonders. One time I sprayed the sheep, but they did not care for it!
Check out our online pre-order form for pork, lamb, chicken and turkey. We’ll have another round of chicken going to slaughter July 29. If you’d like to buy in bulk and break down yourself, let me know.

The Pasturage of Montague
Happy Fourth of July!  We hope you enjoy time with family and friends, maybe take in a parade and some fireworks. I’m not a fan of big booms; I’ve always been a baby about my ears. The best fireworks show I ever saw was from a plane at 30,000feet as I traveled west over the US and you could see each town having its own celebration.  And now, onto the meaty things: we carry chicken and turkey, in addition to pork and lamb, all year round.  Our pre-order form (https://form.jotform.com/231266729632056).lists all we have in stock. If you’d like to buy whole chickens, fresh, in bulk, and either break them down yourself or package them yourself, we will have them available July 30-Aug 2. Email me if you’re interested.

The Pasturage of Montague
I hope you are all surviving the heat. We got creative in the pasture to keep everyone cool. It involves a lot of misting the chickens, creating a wallow for the pigs and moving the sheep into the woods. Thank goodness we have abundant water. I can’t imagine being in a desert, although I suppose they don’t have the humidity.
We are back at Montague market in addition to the Muskegon market, and we can deliver to Sweetwater for your Fourth of July menu.  We just picked up more lamb sausages including brats, Greek gyro brats, breakfast links and spicy breakfast links. Plus we have some new pork sausages including brat patties and breakfast patties in addition to all our links: brats, jalapeno brats, hot Italian and breakfast links.
Happy almost holiday!

The Pasturage of Montague
We have piglets! They’re doing quite well despite our cool weather. When their mom steps out to feed, they burrow into the straw and when we call into the house to check on them, they pop their heads up, straw sliding off their snout. It’s endlessly entertaining. They’re just so darn cute in how piggy they are, even when so small. In warmer afternoons, they wander out and scratch themselves on honeysuckle stubs, just like their mama, grunting the whole time. That straw must be awful itchy! If you find yourself interested in raising your own pig in your backyard, these piglets will be available in about 4-6 weeks. If not, no worries, we’ll keep providing all the grillable goods with no sentimental connection.
Our website is down currently… at this rate, it might be down forever. I can raise animals but web development is not my specialty.  Maybe sometime in the future I’ll rejoin the virtual world. Until then, call or text my cell 23one 288 6 one one2.
