Pine Row Farm of Rothbury
Hello :-),
While I’m no more partial to mud than Julie and her sheep, I will say I’ve appreciated my clothes not freezing solid, liquid water for livestock, and not thawing pipes and machinery by transferring heat from my bare hands this past week. Bees also require temps to warm up enough they can take cleansing flights, so I was grateful for their sakes as well. We’ll soon see what February holds!
I will bring the usual walk up items weekly since market will be every week. Preorders are still recommended for items you consider crucial. I sometimes run out of items, and it’s easier than guessing what everyone wants to eat all week!
We will accept orders until 5pm on Friday. I will try to get totals emailed out by 9:30pm on Friday. If you don’t get a response from me, please contact me. We accept cash or check payable to Pine Row Farm.

The Pasturage of Montague
Is winter over? Dan heard a robin last week and got the binoculars just to be sure. Yes, indeed, it was. I’m wondering if winter will make a belated entry, say about the time lambs start dropping and trees start blooming. I would welcome a winter reprise before that time. Here’s hoping! Thank you to all that have utilized our online pre-order form (available at www.thepasturage.com/order). You can order anytime for pick up at the farm, Sweetwater, or the Muskegon Farmers market. It is current with our products, prices and other pertinent information like ingredients in sausage, where the cut comes from on the animal, and how it is often prepared. Check it out!Tootaloo!  Julie

Returning Soon
The Woven Farm of Whitehall
Hello Folks!
I am headed across the Big Lake to Madison Wisconsin this weekend for an organic grains conference. I am excited to learn more about small-scale organic grains and how to grow them for you!
While I will miss everyone at market this weekend, I plan to be back next weekend with some fresh microgreens! (and soon bagged greens!) We managed to plant out our newly built high tunnel with oodles of salad mix, spinach, and arugula – and we are eagerly awaiting its first harvest to share!
If you would like to support the farm prior to my return to market, CSA shares and market cards are live on the website, and the early season purchases are surely appreciated as we navigate this season’s expenses!
Vegetable CSA Shares, Bouquet CSA Shares, Combo Shares, and Market Cards can be purchased here: https://thewoventrifecta.com/shop/csa-shares
Cheers to good growing!

The Pasturage of Montague
One week of winter (ok, 10 days) and we’re headed back to mud. I’m sad about that. So are the sheep. They hate the mud; they never leave the barn. In very cold weather, they sit out in the yard, chew their cud and let the snow pile on their back.  By the time the next market comes around, who knows? It may be winter again. You can order anytime online via www.thepasturage.com/order for pick up at the farm, the Muskegon market or Sweetwater market.

Also: Reminder that Laughing Tree Bakery will be at the Muskegon Farmers Market every Saturday through the winter!

Additional vendors attending January 27th & change to winter schedule.

I apologize in advance for the changing schedule for this winter. It’s partly the weather but also that we are trying to figure out what works for both the farmers and for you all.
Liberty Family Farm, Earthscape Farm have decided to come this week in addition to Pine Row Farm. Also Dirty Roots Healing. And The Pasturage.
We are going to dispense with the every two week schedule. The farmers will let me know Sunday night if they are going to attend the next Saturday and then you will get the Monday preorder list as usual.
If something changes and they can’t make it they will let me know Thursday night for the Friday Update newsletter.
So, to recap: Back to an every week market. The difference will be that this will be a PREORDER ONLY market. Even then, if any particular vendor has something extra to bring for walk up sales they will list that as well.
Thanks for your patience as we try to work this out. Please email with any questions to sweetwaterlocalfoods@gmail.com

Returning Soon
The Woven Farm of Whitehall
Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope that your holidays were filled to the brim with fam, friends, fun… and of course some farm fresh food!
I will be absent from Sweetwater for a few weeks, waiting for a crop of mid-winter greens to arrive.
Our high tunnel is officially up and planted…. and depending on what mother nature throws our way, I suspect my first harvest to happen in early February – prepare yourselves for an abundance of salad greens and spinach!
In the meantime, if you would like to support the farm through the early season purchase of a CSA or Market Card, they are currently live on our website!    https://thewoventrifecta.com/shop/csa-shares
As we crop plan and purchase seed for this upcoming season, those early season sales are extra appreciated!
Cheers to good growing and have a lovely week!

The Pasturage of Montague
I am glad to be getting back to market!  We’ll be at Muskegon in our usual stall filled with goodies of the pork, lamb and turkey variety.  Feel free to order for Sweetwater pick up, too.  Avail yourself of The Pasturage pre-order form (www.thepasturage.com/order) to see all the options you have from “warm up the house with lamb shanks in the oven” to bacon for your mac and cheese (it’s winter, according to the forecast, and what better way to up the ante on the classic comfort food), to boneless, skinless turkey breast that makes a killer a la king.  Oh, how I love winter (I can find any excuse to eat).  Tootaloo!  Julie

Note from Laughing Tree Bakery
Sweetwater friends:
Due to our need to streamline our energy, our time as Sweetwater vendors has come to an end. Thank you for all your years of patronage at this market! You can continue to find us every Saturday at the Muskegon Farmers Market (where we have a full array of bread and pastries as well as soup and sandwiches through the winter). You can find our bread at the Grand Haven Health Hutt, the Henry St. Health Hutt, and our pastries can be found at Aldea Coffee in both Muskegon and Grand Haven. Again,
thank you so much for all of your support in our years at Sweetwater.
Please feel free to reach out if you have questions. Hilde@laughingtreebakery.com

Sweetwater EXTRA WEDNESDAY WEATHER REMINDER for January 13th Farmers Market

WEDNESDAY WEATHER REMINDER

This is an extra email this week because we need to touch base on the weather situation and also on the importance of preorders.
Two things:
 1. Please get your preorders in as soon as possible.  Our food producers need to know if they have enough orders to make it worth coming out.
2. PLEASE check your Friday Update email! We will make a decision by noon on Friday whether to hold or cancel the market, given the potential for another winter storm Friday night. We all know how mercurial Michigan weather can be, so tune in Friday and we’ll all hope for the best!

The Pasturage of Montague
We took our Christmas tree down yesterday and even though I know the days are getting longer, I miss the glow in the early morning.  But I am glad to be getting back to market! Tootaloo!  Julie
Scholl Farms of Montague
We will be at market with our Kennebec, Purple, & Austrian Crescent Fingerlings potatoes.
Thanks So Much,

Sweetwater friends:
Due to our need to streamline our energy, our time as Sweetwater vendors has come to an end. Thank you for all your years of patronage at this market! You can find our bread at the Grand Haven Health Hutt, the Henry St. Health Hutt, and our pastries can be found at Aldea Coffee in both Muskegon and Grand Haven. Again,

Welcome winter!  And welcome to the array of choices for your holiday dinner!  Whole turkey, turkey breast, rack of lamb, lamb sirloin roast, smoked ham end roast, smoked ham slice… the list goes on!  We have all sorts of sizes and shapes to accommodate any (lack of) crowd!  Even though I love vegetables and feel they don’t get the time and attention they deserve at the holiday table, and even though dessert always seems to steal the show, I feel like the heart of the meal is the meat.  Everything else cascades from this central choice: wine, sides, even how you set the table.  This is one time to splurge on special meat: don’t worry, you won’t mess it up and it will be worth every penny.
Don’t forget to order your holiday meat platter!  Great for New Years!  It’s on sale now for only $40 on our pre-order form (www.thepasturage.com/order).  It includes liver sausage (a better description is liver pate), lamb jerky, lamb snack sticks and smoked polish lamb sausage.  All possible allergens are listed in our online pre-order form.
Pork is back in stock: bacon, chorizo, ground pork, smoked ham center slices, breakfast links, smoked hocks and (NEW this year!) smoked neck bones.  We are not sure when we will be back to Sweetwater equipped for walk-up sales.  However, if you place a pre-order online (www.thepasturage.com/order), I’ll get it to Sweetwater on the date that you wish via Laughing Tree.  In the meantime, we will be at Muskegon farmer’s market inside the big red building with the white garage doors.

Funny Farm of Grant
Hello, friends! Hope the holiday season is treating you well. If I get enough preorders I would like to come back on Dec 16th & 23rd.  So if
you’re stuffing some stockings this month, how about some homemade jelly to help fill it up? Or maybe a bowl cozy or two for the one that’s hard
to buy for. At this time I can design custom patterns for someone
special. Text or call and we can discuss this option. I love baking and
it helps keep the house warm so I’m excited to bring my favorite Alton
Brown Blueberry muffins for your morning breakfast. I use local
blueberries and King Arthur flours. They are moist and crumbly, perfect
treats. I’m going to keep an eye on the weather and hope that I can come
on Dec 16 or 23. You can text me at 734 945 0720 and I’ll be sure to
have your order prepared for you. Thank you for your support this year
and always. Here’s my list of jellies available.
Jelly, with Pomona’s pectin: elderberry and blackberry/elderberry mix $8
Jelly with regular pectin: apple, crab apple/kiwi,
kiwi, elderberry, blueberry and wild grape $5
