We infuse wild-harvested herbs that grow naturally on our land, as well as some great medicinal plants we grow in the garden, in high quality organic oil for great herbal medicine. We’ll be bringing four different salves that are ready.

Mama’s All Purpose-A great general purpose salve that can help everything from bug bites to bumps to burns to diaper rash.  Contains calendula, comfrey leaf and root, violet leaf, plantain, chickweed, cleavers, and now with St. John’s Wort!

Mike’s Muscle Relaxer– Mike needed something stronger this year, so we added the power of western plain grown arnica.  Also contains dandelion, rosemary, and st.john’s wort.  The perfect remedy for tired, over-wrked muscles.

Crock pots are great for summer meals – they don’t heat up the kitchen, and some slow-cooked meats are the most flavorful, as well as most economical.  Put a roast or round steak in the crock pot in the morning.  Saute fresh veggies and make a salad to go with it, and you have a delicious dinner!  Try our cubed (Swiss) steaks on the grill.

We sent 3 steers to the butcher this week and will have a full array of beef cuts on Saturday, August 10th.

Crock pots are great for summer meals – they don’t heat up the kitchen, and some slow-cooked meats are the most flavorful, as well as most economical.  Put a roast or round steak in the crock pot in the morning.  Saute fresh veggies and make a salad to go with it, and you have a delicious dinner!  Try our cubed (Swiss) steaks on the grill.

Laughing Tree Bakery of Hart

Hot, hot, hot!  …but not like last summer fortunately.  We’re really enjoying being at market where there is an ample supply of Michigan grown fruits again!  After the early heat and then deep freeze last year we really got to see first hand how much extreme weather events affect not only our farming friends, but also how it dictates the foot traffic and vibes at the market.  So, long live 2013 and its abundance!  And many thanks to all of you who support all of us who make our living at the market.

BREADS: Each week we bake our seven scrumptious weekly breads (listed below) as well as one or more specialty breads.  Please consult the schedule below to find out when we are making your favorite specialty bread!

GRANOLA!  We make two different varieties of granola: Mountain Crunch Granola (pure vanilla, toasted almonds, and organic coconut oil) and Laughing Tree Peanut Butter Granola (all-natural PB, pure vanilla, and Michigan honey)

Chili Cheddar   Whoa-homegrown, pickled jalapeno peppers coupled with mild cheddar cheese makes for great flavor with a little kick.  Fresh or toasted, great as an accompaniment to soup or chili.  $8.00

Toasted Walnut Batard: (aromatic toasted walnuts lend a lovely nuttiness and a purple hue to this versatile batard) $6.50

Hilltoppers (our NEW Molasses Ginger cookies…A 4oz cookie sweetened with golden molasses and bits of candied ginger)  $2.25 each

Mrs. Moose’s Wangdangdoodlers $2.25 each-Chunks of chocolate and walnuts give this cookie texture into which one can sink their teeth with great fervor.

Treehuggers The one and only quarter pound peanut buttery original.  $2.25 each.

We are running out of steaks!  Will have a full array of cuts in mid August.

Crock pots are great for summer meals – they don’t heat up the kitchen, and some slow-cooked meats are the most flavorful, as well as most economical.  Put a roast or round steak in the crock pot in the morning.  Saute a few fresh veggies or make a salad to go with it, and you have a delicious dinner!  Try our cubed (Swiss) steaks on the grill.

We took 6 days off and went to the UP (visited some lovely farms up there!), so we will be about a month behind in having a full variety of beef cuts.  They were supposed to go to the butcher this week, but we didn’t want to transport our steers in such hot weather.

Boneless:  Tenderloin steaks – the best cut of beef on a side  $20 per lb.

Roasts:   Chuck, English, Boneless Rib.  OUR BONELESS RIB ROAST SLOW ROASTED IN THE CROCK POT WAS MELT-IN-YOUR-MOUTH TENDER AND SO FLAVORFUL!  IT WAS EASY!  BILL COOKED IT!  Roasts are $6 and $6.50 per lb.

Swiss Steak and Round Steak – We have a lot of these cuts.  If you don’t know how to cook them, google it or ask us. These are some of the most flavorful cuts of meat and are fork-tender when prepared right.  $6.50 per lb.

Stew Meat  $6.50 per lb.

Short Ribs, also good for meaty soups  $3 per lb.

Soup Bones  $2 per lb.

Oxtail! There’s only 1 per steer :-).  $5 per lb.

Tongue,  Liver and Heart  $3 – $3.50 per lb.
