A Little Garden in the Woods of Hart
Hello to the Sweetwater Family,
I am so excited to join the market this fall. My name is Caleb Davis-Dykema, I am a native of Muskegon from the Bluffton neighborhood, living and farming in Oceana County for the better half of a decade. A Garden in the Woods is a small no till vegetable farm located on the rolling hills of Oceana County. I found my way to organic farming after being inspired by my work at Hawaii’s famous Kokua Natural Foods Cooperative on Oahu. Later, farming opportunities took us to Hawaii’s Big Island, where I served as caretaker of a 47 acre, off-the-grid property near Volcano Village. There, I had the chance to experiment with permaculture, small- scale orchards and organic farming in a tropical environment. Since returning to Michigan, my wife, son, and I have been practicing no-till farming on a piece of family land outside of Hart, Michigan. We work with permanent beds which receive no tillage, and enrich the farm with homemade compost. The results have been amazing! Please stop by and say hello on Saturdays this fall. We look forward to meeting Sweetwater supporters and sharing our beautiful, nutrient-dense salad greens, cut flowers, and vegetables.
